This weekend was the annual Shamrock the Block celebration in RVA.  There was a bit ‘o controversy this year over the new location… but, I’d say everything went off without a hitch.  The bands were less than awesome – which is a pretty major bummer for someone who goes to these things primarily for the music and not just to get drunk in public, and the lines were way out of control.  BUT: everyone seemed to be having a really good time and I witnessed ZERO fighting, arguing, or general jerkery.  Fairly impressive for a bunch of Irish and pseudo-Irish drunk people.

Overall, this event doesn’t make my list of Top Ten Reasons I Love RVA, but it’s a good excuse to get out and say hi to the neighbors.
